Altered Histories, is a study on how history, event and image can exist and interact in the present. I used, as starting points, four found media images of the demonstrations in Paris in 1968 and through a process of reprinting and masking, created a series of prints and animations where the composition (information) of the event/history slowly disintegrates to a single visual sign or trace. I am interested in how an image can be viewed as both a record (of time and absence), and a location itself.
