This project began with a research of the various imagery that serves as the visual documentation of Via Appia: from 19th century etchings and black and white photographic archives, to current google map snapshots of the road. Sifting through the collected material- examining the layers and notion of time that are inherent to the fabric of Rome, The First 10 Miles, translates that information into another surface to activate it within the present location and perception.
